How to Play -- The Rogers $20K Adventure
The goal is simple: save $20,000 by December 31, 2026 while racing your party to Space 39. Here's how everything works together.
The Treasure Grid
Open a chest, claim the gold.
Each payday, choose a treasure chest you can afford. Click it to open it -- the gold amount gets added to your total saved. Your position on the board is based on how much you've saved ($500 per space). You can close a chest if you made a mistake.
The Adventure Board
Your party advances by saving gold.
Your party piece (Craig & Mason) moves along the winding board. You advance by opening treasure chests on the savings grid. Every $500 saved = 1 space. The goal is to reach Space 39 by the end of the year.
Weekly Quests
Spin the quest wheel each week.
The quest board gives you a challenge for the week -- like "No DoorDash" or "Pack lunch every day." Quests come in three ranks:

Streaks & Penalties
Winning streaks feel great. Miss streaks hurt.
Complete quests in a row and your streak climbs. But miss 2 in a row? That's the miss streak tax.
Checkpoints keep you honest.
Week 4: Not on the board yet? Handwritten apology letters to each other. Week 20: Below Space 15? Rewards are FROZEN. Last 8 weeks: Missed quests cost DOUBLE.
Payday Planner
Figure out how much you can save each payday.
Enter your checking balance, mark which bills are already paid, and the planner calculates how much is safe to save after bills, fun money, groceries, gas, and a safety buffer. It even recommends which treasure chest range to open. Use the "New Month" button to reset all bills when a new month starts. Bill amounts can be edited right in the list when they change.
Victory Conditions
Hit $20K AND reach Space 39 = DINNER OUT. No budget limit.
Both of you earned it. But if you don't hit $20K by December 31? Each other's worst chore for an entire MONTH. The stakes are real.
Quick Tips
Save first, spend second.
Use the Payday Planner BEFORE spending on wants. Pick your treasure chest at the start of each pay period, move that money to savings, then enjoy what's left guilt-free. Saving is the primary way to move your party forward on the board!

Your progress is stored in Airtable so you and Mason can access it from any device. Changes auto-save after a few seconds. The site loads your latest data automatically when you open it.

How to Play the Rivalry
The Board: 37 spaces (0-36), winding S-shape. First to Space 36 wins!
Ladders 🪜: Land on a ladder space and jump ahead! (4→11, 12→19, 21→29, 28→34)
Chutes 🕳️: Land on a chute and slide back! (8→3, 17→9, 25→18, 33→26)
Quests: Spin for a personal quest. Complete it to move forward (+3 spaces). Fail and go back (-1 space).
Good Partner Move: Did something kind? Move forward 2 spaces. Limited to 2 per month.
Penalties: Broke a rule? Move back 2 spaces.
Dice Roll: Roll 1-6 and move forward that many spaces.
